CD-ROM ToolKit™ v2.0.5 update
November 19th, 1996
Copyright © 1996 FWB Software LLC.
-------------------------------------
These files will update all CD-ROM ToolKit™ 2.0 versions to the new version
2.0.5. This release uses the new FWB Software corporate identity, has better
support for CD Extra discs and some new Macintosh models, and adds support
for some new drives.
Versions
The included files will update the following CD-ROM ToolKit versions to 2.0.5:
2.0
2.0a
2.0.1
2.0.3
FWB Software Corporate Identity
On July 1st, 1996, FWB, Inc. sold its hardware business and the rights to the
Hammer name and logo to Streamlogic. That business is now called "FWB Hammer
by Streamlogic".
The remaining company was renamed "FWB Software LLC" and continues to develop
the ToolKit™ line of software including CD-ROM ToolKit™, Hard Disk ToolKit™ and
RAID ToolKit™. We changed the application graphics to reflect our new corporate
identity. This version of CD-ROM ToolKit reflects this change.
CD Extra Discs
CD Extra™ discs (previously know as CD Plus™) are one variety of "Enhanced CD".
These CDs play normally in your Audio CD player and include digital data that can
only be read by your computer. This digital data often appears in the form of
Multimedia presentations.
Previously, using Enhanced CDs in CD-ROM ToolKit was a little confusing because
one of the options (Search every track for possible data to mount) had to be changed
depending on the type of Enhanced CD being used. In this version of CD-ROM ToolKit
all Enhanced CDs will work automatically if "Search every track" is turned off.
New Macintosh Models
Previous versions of CD-ROM ToolKit 2.0 had a problem with some new Macintosh
Models and some Mac-compatible models from "clone" vendors. Models affected
include the Umax C500/C600, Motorola Starmax, Power Computing PowerBase and
the Apple Power Macintosh/Performa 5400/6400. This version of
CD-ROM ToolKit addresses these problems.
New Drives
This version adds support for new CD-ROM drives, including some 8x, 10x and even
12x models. Consult the "Supported Devices" file to see if your model is supported.
